Assault on Clovengap
"Ah, this is the way to Akrakír, the Ladder Gardens of Gundabad! They were renowned for their beauty; let us hope they have not been despoiled."
Background
You and the dwarves have followed the trail of the Angmarim into Clovengap, where you hope you will find some sign of the Black Stone Anvil's passage.
Objective 1
Bósi stands by the entrance to Clovengap.
- Bósi: 'Remain alert, <name>. None of us must be blinded by the beauty of Akrakír, for we are here to learn where the Angmarim have stolen the Black Stone Anvil of my people!'
Objective 2
- Follow the dwarves into Clovengap
Bósi stands by the entrance to Clovengap.
- 'Bósi says, "Onward into Clovengap!"
- Fastrith says, "Race you to the arch, Bróin!"
- Bróin says, "Hey!"
- Bori says, "Ware the fog, friends!"
- Bósi says, "Something lies on the turf there."
- Bósi says, "What is that?"
Objective 3
The dwarves have discovered the corpse of a warg among the mist-laden grasses of Clovengap.
- The corpse of this warg is marked by fire, and smells of sorcery
Objective 4
- Talk to Bori by the warg corpse in Clovengap
Bori and the other dwarves gather around the warg corpse you found near the entrance to Clovengap.
- Bori: 'This warg was not slain by dwarf-axes or swords, then? Aye, I see the scorch marks. Fire it was that killed this beast.'
- He faces Bósi and raises his voice.
- 'I will lead us from here, father! Follow me!'
Objective 5
- Follow the dwarves into Clovengap
Bori and the other dwarves gather around the warg corpse you found near the entrance to Clovengap.
- Bósi says, "Very well, but remain alert!"
- Bósi says, "An enemy of the wargs may not be an enemy of ours... but it might!"
- Bróin says, "Did you hear that?"
- Fastrith says, "I hear our footsteps on the earth and in the grass... but I think that is all."
- Bósi says, "Look there! Up ahead."
- Bori says, "Another corpse!"
Objective 6
- Examine the corpse of the Angmarim cultist
The dwarves have discovered the corpse of an Angmarim cultist not far from the first body you encountered in Clovengap.
- This corpse has been torn by the sharp claws of wargs
Objective 7
- Listen to the dwarves discuss the situation in Clovengap
The dwarves discuss the violence that has been done here in Clovengap; what does it mean for the safety of your travelling party?
- Bróin says, "What does it mean?"
- Bósi says, "It means our foes are not as united as they believe themselves to be."
- Bori says, "Well, that's good news."
- Bósi says, "This must be warg territory."
- Bósi says, "The Angmarim brought the Black Stone Anvil into Clovengap, and the wargs attacked them."
- Bróin says, "Some of the cultists must have survived, for the Black Block is not here."
- Bósi says, "Aye."
- You hear a distant howling carried on the breeze
- Fastrith says, "Okay, Bróin. That time I heard it."
- Bori says, "We should try not to attract their attention."
- Bróin says, "Is it not too late for that, Bori? The Angmarim have already kicked the hive!"
- The howling of the wargs is much closer
- Bósi says, "Everyone draw close. Form a circle, back to back."
Objective 8
- Talk to Bósi in Clovengap
There are wolf-voices on the wind, and it seems the dwarves do not have long to prepare before the wargs attack!
- Bósi: 'You too, <name>. Wargs are as smart as they are ferocious, and I expect this hunting-pack to attempt to encircle us.
- 'They may attack from any direction, and we must be prepared to defend ourselves!'
Objective 9
- Fight alongside the dwarves in Clovengap. Bósi must not be defeated!
- The wargs are now very close!
- Bósi says, "Steady... steady..."
- Bori says, "I am not afraid, father!"
- Bori says, "We can slay three wargs!"
- Bróin says, "Bori, listen!"
- Bróin says, "There are never just three wargs!"
- Fastrith says, "Here they come!"
Objective 10
- Remain alert for the return of the wargs
You have fended off the wargs... for now.
- Bósi says, "Is that the last of them?"
- Bróin says, "Is everyone all right?"
- Fastrith says, "There is only one thing to say."
- Fastrith says, "Welcome to Clovengap!"
- Bósi: 'We should make camp before another warg-pack finds us. They will not have forgotten the death of Ránulur upon the very threshold of the Mountain-home. That was the doing of dwarves, but it was Gorgar that commanded the warg-chieftain to battle. Until we have a better foothold in Gundabad, this is their territory... not ours.
- 'But one day it will be ours again.'
